The historically wide sidewalk is a defining feature of Broadway. The proposed stairs will reduce the sidewalk width to 10’ feet at a significant corner in our downtown, and the existing green space along the street will also be compromised as part of the proposed plan. Accessibility can be accommodated via other reasonable means within the building footprint. The design of these stairs is inconsistent with other stairs on Broadway, and on the scale of a large municipal or civic building (i.e., City Center), not a private business. I share additional concerns about public safety and loitering – all of the same concerns the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation has articulated (I serve as a Board member). Thank you for your consideration of these critical concerns that would irrevocably alter the very center of our historic downtown. Attach Photo (optional)Field not completed.
