Hi Aneisha, Amanda, and Julia, I plan on attending the public comment meeting on Thursday 11/09/23 at 6pm for the Chipotle Development Project. I would like to provide my comments in advance of the meeting in case I'm not able to be there. Please see my comments below as I don't support the project. Thank you! I am Lauren Moeller and I live on 88 Ballston Ave in Saratoga Springs. Thank you very much for allowing the citizens of Saratoga Springs to have a voice in our community and be heard. I worked for 7 years as a wastewater engineer in Pittsburgh, PA 1 year as a municipal stormwater engineer in the City of Virginia Beach, and 1 year as a roadway engineer in Roanoke, Virginia. I have recently moved back to New York to be closer to family. I am opposed to the construction of the Chipotle. I live on Ballston Ave a few blocks down and the traffic is very high and unsafe for all of the residents on Ballston Ave. The intersections are unsafe and not pedestrian friendly. There are many car crashes at the intersection of Ballston Ave and Lincoln Ave and this project would make the problem worse. There are many tractor trailers also on this residential street. The character of the neighborhood has changed over the years due to more cars on the road driving through and throwing their trash out the window. I am constantly having to pick up trash in my front yard thrown from commuters driving by. I would request that the city promote local owned businesses where the profits remain in the community instead of corporate profits. This project does not fit into the character of the neighbor outlined in the T-5 zoning district, which is listed on the Saratoga Springs City website: "to accommodate a wide variety of residential and non-residential uses, building and frontage types. This district also focuses on providing quality streetscape amenities and civic spaces to enhance pedestrian activity." This project would do the opposite of these goals. Unsafe roads and high traffic volumes discourage pedestrian uses and prioritizes commuters that don't live in the neighborhood. There is also the Stewarts expansion project just a few blocks away that will make the problem even worse. There is already a Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, and Stewarts on Ballston Ave with little nutritional value for customers contributing to the health crisis in America. I am a proponent of strong towns where pedestrians and local businesses are valued. This project also clashes with the community garden gateway project that was recently installed on Ballston Ave next to the pizza hut. There will be lots of lots of garbage blown into the beautiful gardens that 11/8/23, 9:37 AM Zimbra https://m.saratoga-springs.org/h/printmessage?id=21814&tz=America/New_York 2/2 were just planted. I support promoting more green and environmental friendly projects instead of more large parking lots promoting ever higher traffic volumes on Ballston Ave. Thank you for your time, and all the hard work you put in everyday to make Saratoga Springs a better community for all.
