Please contact IT Support if you need assistance determining if it's a threat before opening attachments or clicking any links. Dear Ms. Barden: I am a resident of The Grove, and I am writing about the proposed 5G Verizon cell tower proposal on top of our residential building. I am not against such a proposal site per se, but I do have concerns. First, I am 75 years old, and I have had both bladder and prostate cancer that I have been fighting for 5 years. I need to know if this proposed cell tower will impact my health and compromise my safety (as well as the health and safety of my fellow residents). To that end, I would like to know what your committee is using as evidence that the proposal is safe for building residents --- and I would like an electronic copy bibliographical of materials you are using in the deliberation process. Second, this is a specific question involving technical impacts of the tower on Grove residents. I understand the way in which such a cell tower would improve reception for others in Saratoga. However, will such a cell tower improve our 5G reception for residents or will it have no impact or, even worse, will it harm our connectivity? The reason I ask this is that I used to live in rural Schoharie county. When 3G and 4G towers were first located in 10/30/23, 10:30 AM Zimbra https://m.saratoga-springs.org/h/printmessage?id=21529&tz=America/New_York 2/2 rural areas, land was negotiated as sites for towers (and the towers were good for people who lived at a distance from them). However, the signals were projected away from the tower site. Those living closest to the tower had no benefit. They still had no reception. They simply lived with a tower over them. If this 5G tower is placed on top of us here at The Grove, will the signal inside The Grove be strengthened, decreased or remain the same? Does the connectivity signal travel down and out or does it just project out? If it does not project down, how is Verizon going to adjust signal for those living with potential health dangers? Will additional equipment be included in the package to direct an improved signal within The Grove building? Are residents going to be compensated for our sacrifices? For example, will our rents be capped or supplemented? It is one thing if such a tower were to benefit us, but I have not heard anything about how the tower helps residents at The Grove. Finally, I would like you to pass this email along to planning Board members as well as to City Council members. There ought to be some way for the public to address all these people simultaneously as committee members or as City Council members, but I could not find a way to send a collective email to all pertinent individuals. I would appreciate it if you could see to it that this concern is presented to all vital parties in the decision making process. I look forward to hearing from you.
