HomeMy WebLinkAbout20230216 118, 121-125 Woodlawn Special Use Permit Public Comment (12) July 20, 2023 , City of Saratoga Springs Zoning Board of Appeals City Hall- 474 Broadway Saratoga springs, NY 12866 To the members of the Zoning Committee in reference to: Project Name: Special Use Applicatfon for 118 Woodlawn Ave I live with my wife and three children, ages fourteen- and ten-year-old twins at 44 Granite Street. We built our house and moved in ten years ago. Since that tfme, four other families have moved into the block from Vermont to Greenfield Ave. Between our families we have twelve children between the ages of eight months to fourteen years old. Our neighborhood is very close, and our children are very actfve, often tfmes crossing Vermont Street when playing. To even consider reroutfng traffic through our neighborhood by way of Vermont to Clinton Street would put all our children at extreme risk. I vehemently oppose not only the special use applicatfon for the aforementfoned reasons first and foremost. The additfonal concerns are the other families with children that would also be in harms way if any of the proposed special use applicatfon reroutes any traffic. I cannot believe that this is even give consideratfon as the premise is putting the desires of a few well to do men over the safety and security of what is an amazing family community that reside on North and West Broadway. The plans to include building a kitchen and a bar, which that property is not presently zoned for, is cause for even greater alarm. Sure have a few drinks and drive through a few residentfal neighborhoods. If anyone on the Zoning Committee has children that would be impacted in the age band I referenced earlier in my letter, you would be in oppositfon. Let’s take a really hard look as to what directfon we want Saratoga Springs to move in. Make exceptfons for the wealthy few over safety and security of the wonderful community that currently exists. I don’t think so. Respectiully, Corbin R. Daugherty 44 Granite Street 518-598-7374 corbin@3dhrs.com
