Comments I appreciate the meeting that took place with Mr. Munter,
Soleno, and 45 of my neighbors where many questions were
addressed and some concessions were offered. But some
concerns remain unresolved.
The visual renderings don’t depict the adjacent homes affected
by the site, and they don’t illustrate how the plastic pipes will
tower above the berm and fence. Mr. Munter assured us that
the pipes would not exceed 30 feet, and yet the height of a 12-
foot retaining wall and 8-foot fence would only be 20 feet,
resulting in a substantial visual impact.
We can’t maintain the vision of our “City in the Country” without
an ample “no cut” zone. Clear cutting will cause irreparable
harm to the natural beauty of this neighborhood. The front
yards of the properties on Adams Rd are protected wetlands.
The irony that Soleno prides itself on sustainability while
choosing a site that involves clear-cutting 22 acres is not lost
on our community. The site should also take into greater
account the existing forest and wildlife. There is a sufficient
undeveloped land to relocate the pipes farther from the road.
Although the site is zoned for industry, developments should be
compatible with our residential area. Just as Mr. Munter aims to
maximize the full potential of his property and Soleno stands to
benefit from a multi-million-dollar tax incentive—residents
should be able enjoy their homes in the peace and beauty of
this neighborhood. Surely a compromise can be reached.
A traffic study should be conducted on Adams Rd to account
for the increase in workers who will keep Soleno’s operations
running around the clock, seven days a week. The mailboxes
are often hit by cars that speed down this scenic rural road,
including my mailbox which was hit by a vehicle from the
Department of Public Works.
Before proceeding, I ask that the City hear our concerns allow
more time to put equitable concessions into writing.
