The trees of Adamsn Road make this street unlike any other in Saratoga. It is the trees made us buy here. These homes can be found anywhere. But the trees are an awe- inspiring reminder of the beauty of nature. The plan is to cut most of these trees on this lot, and re-plant 95 ft of seedlings, which will take 20 years to mature. This leaves us treeless, and with no natural visual or auditory barrier from this manufacturing company. Operations will include heavy machinery, and operating hours remain unclear. A berm or fence would be a poor substitute for a wall of natural forestry. Also, the companies do not need all the space they are taking, instead cutting trees in hopes of expansion. We requested a phased plan of tree removal, a “smooth transition” from residential to industrial, but it’s more efficient for them to cut trees once. In our family, we teach our kids about taking only what you need. This Native American wisdom says you can fulfill your needs while leaving still leaving plenty for others. They may have the right to cut trees, but it’s not the right thing to do. If we offer cookies at a party, my children have the right to eat them all before our guests. But the right thing to do is to take only what they need, and leave the rest for the neighbors. The Munters are a good people, and we’re not against development. We are asking for good neighbors who do the right thing. Please see to the professional responsibility of a smooth transition from residential to industrial, with phased-in clearing only what they currently need. See to the environmental responsibility of taking only the trees they need now. And assure the moral responsibility to be good neighbors, and preserve the character of Adams Rd by leaving the unneeded trees that had us settle here to begin with.
