Board of Directors The circa 1870 high Victorian Gothic style residence is a contributing building to the Adam NFavro East Side Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The . James Kettlewell emeritus • The use of natural materials is preferred. The use of pressure treated wood is appropriate for concealed substructure. Exposed or pressure treated wood is discouraged. Executive Director Samantha Bosshart • Latticework and skirting boards, when used should be placed in a frame. The use of natural materials is preferred. Membership& Programs Director Nicole Babie The Foundation appreciates that the owners want to replace and add piers to stabilize the porch. The appearance of the new piers should match the existing historic piers. The Foundation also appreciates that the owners plan to repair the damaged bases of the wood Ionic columns and replace balusters that are beyond repair in-kind. However, the Foundation strongly objects the use of synthetic materials to replace the 112 Spring Slt`'CL, Siiitr 21j3 Saratoga Springs, NY 1286(} I) 518-587-503i/ F518-581-1-148 decking and the frieze board. Those elements should be either repaired or replaced in-kind with wood. The Foundation appreciates the effort and investment the applicant is making to preserve this prominent character-defining feature of their historic property.
