The only notice we had was by reading an article in Saratoga Today which was published Friday, March 10. Liberty Affordable Housing has shown that it has a complete disregard for the rules and regulations of our city.. The Comprehenive Plan of 2015, which was put in place after many meetings and discussions with the public, was attacked by LAH in 2018. Only three years after being the resource for determining the zoning of our city, LAH attempted to change the zoning from UR-1 to UR-4. The Planning Board was unanimously against this proposed change. The Planning Board's recommendation was forwarded to the City Council. After Public Hearings at the Council, the zoning change was unanimously rejected. Quite surprisingly, the Planning Board of 2022 did a complete reversal pf the Planning Board of 2018. Their unanimous approval was again forwarded to the City Council. The current City Council, which is made of of all new Commissioners and Mayor, then foted unanimously to approve the zoning change to UR-4 Not only did LAH disregard the Comprehensive Plan, but it succeeded in creating spot-zoning which has long been denied in past years. UR-4 designation does not allow 190-220 apartments, so LAH received approval ffor extremely high density use. Clubhouse Estates is nearest to the development by LAH, and is against this high density proposal, I join them in being totally against the development. Their traffic study is flawed because it was done one week after the horse racing season was over. At one of the most recent Planning Board meetings, LAH agreed to having a paved sidewalk on Crescent Ave. from the Crescent Ave. entrance to the Racino, westerly to Jefferson Street. If this development is approved, it will be critical to have that sidewalk. I called the County Sewer district about the capacity of the sewer district pumping station at Jefferson St. They were not sure it could handle morre waste.
