Any trees that are in the ROW fall within my jurisdiction. Trees on your property you will need to take up with the Planning Board and submit a change order. However, there are several trees near the stop sign that I am confident are on your property, which are dead and I would like to see those removed in the very near future. We can talk replanting/landscape design after I speak with Engineering and get those trees surveyed. In the meantime, I suggest hiring an ISA Certified Arborist (https://www.treesaregood.org/findanarborist/findanarborist) or Certified Forester to assess the trees you would like removed. You will likely want to include that report when you submit the change order to the Planning Board. Thanks John, I will be following up with you soon. Steve, This year I purchased a property on the corner of Jefferson and Taylor Streets in Saratoga Springs. I purchased the property upon its subdivision into two properties, a vacant lot (313 Jefferson St) and an existing house (1 Taylor St). Due to the reorientation of the house to face Taylor St, several trees need to be removed to allow for the new driveway. I have had several tree services inspect both properties, and they are in agreement that most, if not all of the trees should be removed due to disease or their instability. As a condition of the subdivision, the Saratoga Planning Board stipulated that the trees along Taylor Street should remain. Which brings me to the reason for this correspondence. According to the survey I received, the trees along Taylor Street are on my property. In my opinion, the trees are not worth retaining, due to their condition and aesthetics. A neighbor has expressed concern to me about the trees since the neighborhood children walk by them en Gmail - Re: Tree removal - Taylor Street https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ik=46fca144ab&view=pt&search=al... 1 of 2 1/11/2023, 12:47 PM route to the school bus stop at the corner. I would like to remove all of the trees along Taylor Street for two reasons. First, to avoid any potential injury or property damage from falling limbs or trunks. Secondly, the trees are unattractive and are incongruous with the adjacent neighborhood. I would like to remove the trees at my expense. I would be willing to replant trees, based on your recommendation, that would incorporate the properties into the adjacent neighborhood streetscape. I have attached a copy of a survey which indicates the location of the trees.I believe that upon inspection of the site, you will agree that my proposal is in the best interests of the city. Also, if the trees must remain, I would not assume any liability connected to any injury or damage resulting from their existence. Feel free to contact me via email or my cell @ 518.260.6538 with any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
