Reason for
a mend ment: To designate 182 Excelsior Avenue, which is eligible for listing on the State and National Registers of Historic Places, a City Landmark. It is significant
because of its associations with architecture and Henry Lawrence. The residence and carriage house are significant examples of Gothic Revival architecture. Lawrence was
responsible for the development of Excelsior Park. He marketed and shipped Excelsior Spring waters worldwide and also sold land to the village to constructnew waterworks and reservoir.
