Introduction This report addresses the planned on-site wastewater disposal systems at the proposed subdivision located at 33 Nelson Avenue (the project). The project is located approximately one half mile north of Crescent Avenue (NYS Route 22). There is a house presently located at 33 Nelson Avenue that receives municipal water and has an existing septic system. The Applicant proposes to subdivide the existing lot into two lots. Lot 1 will be located south of the existing residence. The existing residence will be located on Lot 2. The existing residence has four bedrooms, and the proposed residence to be located on Lot 1 will also have four bedrooms. II. Existing Water and Sanitary Sewer Utilities As previously noted, the existing home on Lot 2 presently receives municipal water. A3/4"water lateral service connection is proposed for Lot 1. The existing residence on Lot 2 currently has a leach field that will be removed as a part of the work and replaced with a new septic system and leach field sized appropriately for a four bedroom home. There are no existing sanitary utilities located on the proposed Lot 1. III. On-Site Wastewater Disposal System Design Wastewater flows for each proposed lot were estimated using methodology prescribed by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Residential Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems design handbook. Since both lots are considered residential, flow was estimated using the approximation of 110 GPD per bedroom. For both lots, domestic wastewater will be disposed of in a conventional absorption trench septic system. Deep-hole test pits and soil percolation tests were conducted on March 3, 2017. The results of these tests are included on the design plans. There are suitable locations for each leach field on the west side of the lots, down gradient from the residences. Since there is a sufficient elevation change between the location of the residence, septic system, and leach field for both lots, pumps will not be required. Lot 1--Proposed Four Bedroom Residence The minimum required septic tank size for the four bedroom residence is 1,250 gallons. Therefore, a new 1,250 gallon seamless septic tank is proposed. After reaching the septic tank, wastewater will flow to the absorption trench leach field. 1 33 Nelson Avenue 2016141 Lot 2—Existing Four Bedroom Residence Similar to Lot 1,the minimum required septic tank size for a four bedroom residence is 1,250 gallons. Therefore, a new 1,250 gallon seamless septic tank is proposed. After reaching the septic tank, wastewater will flow to the absorption trench leach field.
