Good Morning Susan: Can you share this with the Planning Board: I was present at the presentation at last night's meeting. I am on the Zoning Board and although we had a presentation of this apartment project, we were given the abbreviated version. I thought I was going to be able to make a public comment but found out that is not in the process of advisory opinions only. The area I was most interested in was the incorporation of Complete Streets into the project. And, although it was a positive to see sidewalks, bike lanes and some tree plantings, what was missing was any way to connect this property to existing pedestrian ways. Since the initial residents will be low income, I hope to see young families being able to occupy these apartments. This would trigger moms walking strollers, kids on bikes and other residents who may not have a car to travel to grocery stores, recreation area (Vanderbilt) and other points of destination. How will this project connect with current and future complete streets? Are there plans to extend sidewalks along Jefferson? https://m.saratoga-springs.org/h/printmessage?id=5145&tz=America/New_York 1/2 11/9/22,4:08 PM Zimbra We are finding that pathways are best when they connect something to something else. Pathways that stop and go nowhere such as the one they are proposing through the acreage preserved for conservation doesn't serve much purpose. I hope to see these areas carefully thought out and address by the Planning Board recommendations to City Council.
