We are not able to attend the public meeting but want to add our comments regarding such. We are not opposed to the addition of an upper level and finished space above the garage to be used as a home office. We do believe though that the prior variance issued does not address the UDO 9.5 A.7 regarding plumbing fixtures only permitted on the first floor or below. It is not a historic carriage house/barn dwelling as it was a garage for a property that falls outside the historic district so it is not exempt from the plumbing requirements. The assumption would be made then that the project also requires a use variance beyond the area variance. The floor plan as part of the project shows a bathroom on the second floor with what appears to be room that a shower could be added in the future particularly looking at the electrical plan. Addressing the plumbing issue and may not contain cooking facilities, sleeping space, or indoor bathing facilities (bathtub or shower) or to be used for overnight stays the project has our backing.
