Re: Boughton Porch at 1 Alger Street,Letter of Support
Dear Zoning Board of Appeals,
I am writing in support of the above-referenced porch and revised proposal that the Boughton's submitted on May
2022. I personally own 2 homes in the immediate neighborhood(135& 137 Woodlawn)that are directly adjacent
to 1 Alger Street.I have resided at 137 Woodlawn for 22 years, have invested considerably in my properties and
even received a preservation award for my efforts. What the Boughton'and other;are doing is exactly what the
neighborhood needs and I feel strongly that the improvements the Boughtons'have made on their property
increases the overall neighborhood esthetic as well as property value.
Upon finding out the Zoning Board initially sent the Boughton's a request to demolish the new structure I was
quite taken back. As a primarily impacted resident I'd like to be crystal clear that I do not feel like this structure
is out of character nor that demolishing it would present a benefit to anyone. The new Boughton porch has been
tastefully constructed, adds positively to 1 Alger Street's fine finishes and closely matches the neighborhood
esthetic.
Granting the variances that have been requested will not produce an undesirable change in the character of the
neighborhood nor a detriment to nearby properties. Quite to the contrary, allowing the porch to stand will benefit
the neighborhood. Taking down the portion of the fence that encloses the porch while tying the roof line into the
original structure(as proposed in the recent revision)will only enhance the porch and further increase its asset
value to the neighborhood.
As a resident who has invested substantially in our community and is personally invested in this neighborhood,I
strongly encourage the board to allow for this porch to be revised as proposed by the Boughton's. It would be
very wasteful and detrimental to the neighborhood to have them demolish it. Please note I plan to attend the
Zoning Board meeting on September 12`h in order to further show my support of this project.
As an aside that directly relates to the neighborhood,I would like to take this opportunity to ask the Zoning Board
to take interest in and exercise influence with property owners who are negatively impacting our neighborhood
through neglect. 119(abandoned)and 127(dilapidated)Woodlawn are both immediate examples that are in
direct violation of the New York State Property Maintenance Code and are negatively impacting both the property
value and esthetic of our community. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration and please do not hesitate to call if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Tyson B.Hunt

Re: Boughton Porch at 1 Alger Street, Letter of Support
Dear Zoning Board of Appeals,
I am writing this letter in support of the above-referenced porch and revised proposal that the Boughton's
have submitted in May 2022. 1 personally own a home at 142 Woodlawn Avenue which resides directly across
from 1 Alger Street. I feel strongly the continued improvements the Boughtons' have made on their property
continues to increase the overall neighborhood value not to mention my property directly across the street.
Upon finding out the ZBA initially sent the Boughton's a request to fully demolish the new structure I wanted
to be sure to make it clear I do not feel like this structure is out of character. In fact, the property I own has a
Saratoga Styled porch and I feel it is important to the character and in a similar style to the majority of the
homes in our direct neighborhood as well as around downtown. This new Boughton porch only adds to 1
Alger Street's fine finishes and more closely matches the neighborhood as is.
Granting the variances that have been requested will not produce an undesirable change in the character of
the neighborhood or a detriment to nearby properties. Allowing the porch to stand will better match the
neighborhood and taking down the fence as well as tying the roof line into the original structure(as proposed
in the recent revision)will only enhance the new porch and make it more appealing to the neighborhood.
As a neighbor that will see this structure each day I strongly encourage the board to allow for this Saratoga
Style porch to be revised as proposed by the Boughton's. It would be very wasteful to have them demolish
this structure as opposed to allowing them to revise it as proposed. Please note I plan to attend the ZBA
meeting on September 12t'in order to further show my support of this project.
Thank you for taking this letter of support into consideration when reviewing the proposal.
Sincerely and respectfully,

Re: Boughton Porch at 1 Alger Street, Letter of Support
DearZoning Board of Appeals Members,
We are writing this letter in support of the above-referenced porch and revised proposal that
the Boughton's have submitted in May 2022. We personally own 4 Alger Street which is
located directly across the street from the new porch at 1 Alger Street. We feel strongly the
continued improvements the Boughtons' have made on their property continues to increase
the overall neighborhood value not to mention our home at 4 Alger Street.
Upon finding out the ZBA initially sent the Boughton's a request to fully demolish the new
structure we wanted to be sure to make it clear we do not feel like this structure is out of
character. In fact, our home at 4 Alger Street has a Saratoga Styled porch and we feel it is
important to the character and in a similar style to the majority of the homes in our direct
neighborhood as well as around downtown. This new Boughton porch only adds to 1 Alger
Street's fine finishes and more closely matches the neighborhood as is.
Granting the variances that have been requested will not produce an undesirable change in the
character of the neighborhood or a detriment to nearby properties. Allowing the porch to
stand will better match the neighborhood and taking down the fence as well as tying the roof
line into the original structure (as proposed in the recent revision)will only enhance the new
porch and make it more appealing to the neighborhood.
As neighbors that will see this structure each day we strongly encourage the board to allow for
this Saratoga Style porch to be revised as proposed by the Boughton's. It would be very
wasteful to have them demolish this structure as opposed to allowing them to revise it as
proposed. Please note we plan to attend the ZBA meeting on September 12th in order to
further show our support of this proposal and variance.
Thank you fortaking this letter of support into consideration when reviewing the proposal.
