Comments As a lifelong resident, an around the corner neighbor to this
project, and someone who has been in front of the DRC and
complyed with the DRC for my own home, I believe I am an
appropriate voice to comment on this project.
We could see the former adequacy sized property from our
living room window and clearly remember the thanksgiving day
fire that swept this building in questionable circumstances.
The appropriate and timely channels to preserve any remnants
of the former structure were not followed. At the very least the
current plans should be in resemblance of its former structure,
just as we did with recommendations from the DRC on our
family home 2 blocks away. The height and scope of this
proposed structure only serves to squeeze revenue from the
site instead of honor the devastating end to its former structure.
While the current proposal is extremely lacking in character and
is pedestrian at best with its design, the very least we can ask
for is to have the height lowered to be more in keeping with the
historic block, where buildings do not exceed 4 stories.
Additional consideration should be given to ANY form of
appropriate architectural elements in keeping with "lower"
Caroline Street. Thank you.
