Comments As a full-time resident of Saratoga Springs, I welcome projects
that improve the quality of life here. Regarding the proposed
project at 30 Caroline St, I am in favor of the project if
modifications are made to the planned height.
I object to the scale and how it fits with the other buildings
along the street.
1) In my mind, the review of this project is exactly why this
board exists. This building does not fit with that Caroline St
block at 6 stories in height. It's too high and will negatively
impact the overall Saratoga feel on what is arguably one of the
most iconic streets in the city.
2) Sun and Light on the street. A building of 6 stories will cast
shade around it throughout the day. This will impact the
businesses that have patio and outdoor dining as people like to
dine in the sun on a beautiful day. If the building is of similar
height to the others, it won't be as noticeable - a fair
compromise.
3) Snow and Rain management - Potential damage to the
neighboring buildings who assume the run off/snow weight
4) Parking
Thank you for your important work on the DRB.
