We are pleased that the site will be repurposed for much-needed housing and that the Spring will be preserved. > > We concur that it is important to improve pedestrian access to Ballston Avenue, where there is a supermarket, a drug store and other stores, and a bus stop for two CDTA routes. Today there is a signalized crosswalk at West Fenlon Street just to the south, and one at incoln Avenue approximately 1500 to the north. This creates a distance of approximately 2000 feet between signalized crossings. > > There are sidewall<s on both sides of South Broadway, which is exceptionally helpful in this regard. We recommend the addition of a full traffic signal at Finley Street. This is beneficial is several ways. First, it would permit safe pedestrian crossing at that location. In addition, many full-size trucks use Finley Street as it is the designated trucl< route between the Industrial Park and I-87. A signal at this location would make the turn easier and safer for the trucks. We do not see a signal at this location adding to traffic congestion, even on busy days at the track, as the real bottleneck is farther north. > > If, however, State DOT finds that full traffic signal is not warranted at Finley Street, then we would recommend the installation of a pedestrian signal such as the one on Ballston Avenue where Railroad Run crosses the road. > > We will be glad to discuss further if you wish. > > Sincerely, > > Key Grey, Chair CSAB > Ted Orosz AICP, Vice-Chair CSAB https://m.saratoga-springs.org/h/printmessage?id=64363&tz=America/New_York 1/2 8/31/22,5:13 PM Zimbra https://m.saratoga-springs.org/h/printmessage?id=64363&tz=America/New_York 2/2
