H i S u sa n,
I culminated a list of trees which were removed within the conservation easement area on
the West/Southwest edge of the lot based off of evidence from stumps, logs, slash etc.:
White Oak 26"
White Oak 25"
White Oak 11"
White Oak 8"
Red Oak 30"
Red Oak 30"
Red Oak 32"
Red Oak 32"
Red Maple 24"
Red Maple 17" co-dominant leader/stem
Red Maple 15" co-dominant leader/stem
Red Maple 10"
Red Maple 9"
Red Maple 8"
Black Bi rch 10"
As for the remediation, I'm beginning to think that it might the most efficient route may be to
establish a fee based off of the size of the tree(s) (DBH) removed and the cost for a
contractor to plant a 2"-3" caliper tree. We could put out an RFP every year for Tree Planting
Services which qualified landscape contractors will bid on a price per tree. The
m itigation/preci prication fee wi I I be based on the price of the wi n n i ng bid (exa m ple $100 per
tree pla nted), m u Iti pl ied by 1/3 of every i nch of DBH that was removed, or leave it i n the
hands of the PB as to the amount of DBH that needs to be replaced with a maximum not
exceeding the DBH
Example:
a 30" tree was removed inside a conservation easement area. The bid price per tree planted
is $100
1/3 of 30 = 10

$100 per tree X 10 = $1000
or
a 30" tree was removed inside a conservation easement area. The bid price per tree planted
is $100
every i nch of DBH is to be replaced with a new tree
$100 x 30 = $3000
Someth i ng a long those I i nes. With those fu nds I wi I I be a ble to coord i nate with the
contractor to plant trees in specific locations based off of our Tree Inventory and Urban
Forest Management Plan.
]ust something to think about. We can talk more on that idea if youd like.
Cheers
