Whether the benefit sought by the applicant can be achieved by other feasible means. Identify what alternatives to the variance have been explored (alternative designs,attempts to purchase land,etc.)and why they are not feasible. Bringing the roof line up to the 8'required set back leave the roof live short and looks unfinished or badly designed 2. Whether granting the variance will produce an undesirable change in the character of the neighborhood or a detriment to nearby properties. The requested variance is not substantial for the following reasons: This small roof extension(approximately 3'long)will only protrude forwad from the house and will not return into the side of the house 4. The requested variance will not have an adverse physical or environmental effect on the neighborhood or district for the following reasons: The adjecent property will hae no adverse or environmental effect 5. Whether the alleged difficulty was self-created(although this does not necessarily preclude the granting of an area variance).Explain whether the alleged difficulty was or was not self-created: The current structure was placed closer to the left side of the property than current setbacks allow.
