DESIGN GUIDELtNES: The Design Review Commission will evaluate whether the praposed action (construction, alteration or demalition) is compatible with existing structures and surrounding praperties using the following criteria: • Height—consistent with historic form and cantext of site and surrounding praperties • Scale—relationship of structu�e and its architectu�al elements to human size,form, perception • Praportion—relationship amang building elements including front fa�ade, windows, and daors � Rhythm—pattern resulting from repeating building elements such as door/window openings, calumns, arches,and ather fa�ade elements • Directional Expression—compatibility with horizontal &vertical expression af surraunding structures • Massing& Open Space—relationship of structure ta open space between it and adjoining buildings • Setback—compatibility with surraunding structures • Compatibility of the follawing with surrounding structures/properties: - Major building elements (starefronts, doors,windows, raaf} - Building materials - Color—(in non-residential zoning districts only} 5. DEeisioNs:The Design Review Commission may approve,apprave with conditions,or disapprove an application. The DRC may impose apprapriate conditions and safeguards in connectian with its approval including nafiure/quality of materials, manner af constructian,and design. An applicant may appeal a denied DRC application on the graunds of hardship.
