Dear Ms. Barden,
C2 Architecture, PC is currently working with Terracon and Spring Line Design on the shoring and
foundation system for 269 Broadway in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Terracon has completed a Geotechnical Report,dated 2/1/2022,which has given the design team an
understanding of the site conditions.Additional borings will be performed on-site which will be used
to finalize the design for the secant wall as well as will attempt to identify any additional springs
found on site.Terracon has been hired to design the secant wall,which will be installed around the
entire perimeter of the property. Based on the data from the Geotechnical Report, any groundwater
occurred during construction will be treated on-site and dumped into the City of Saratoga storm
system on Hamilton Street.
Once the secant wall is installed,excavation will begin internally on-site.This process will remove the
soil within the secant shoring down to the required depth to install a mat slab. Should groundwater
or a natural spring occur during this process,we will install a water migration system before any
additional excavation takes place.Any groundwater will be treated and pumped off site into the City
of Saratoga storm system along Hamilton Street.This system will be designed by a licensed engineer
and will have dual redundancy which will be connected to the on-site generator.
Not only is installation of the secant wall for the shoring system the best recommendation for this
site, it will also ensure very little deformation and settlement and can support high loads for
surrounding structures. During construction,a secant wall will provide less vibration during the
installation process which will be monitored on-site.
Supplementary information related to the installation of the secant wall will be provided to the
Building Department for final review and approval. In addition to our letter, a letter from Terracon is
provided under a separate letterhead. Lastly,additional information is provided by Keller,who is a
contractor for installing secant wall systems.

Based on my team's experience and our knowledge of the project site,we are taking every
precaution and have taken steps to ensure completion of this project and most importantly to
protect the surrounding buildings.
