The following is a summary of our discussion from the site meeting held yesterday with next steps:
• Developer requested redesign of existing National Grid WR# 29651541 previously requested by
269 Broadway LLC. due to a change in proposed building layout. Increased footprint no longer
provides adequate space for National Grid equipment
• Developer requested National Grid's existing switchgear and new transformer to be placed
within the building
The switchgear in question provides electrical feeds to adjacent parcels (275-285 Broadway and 24
Hamilton buildings). Duetothe configuration, National Grid requiresthis pieceof equipment, in
addition to the conductors leading to and from it, be located outside and readily accessible in order to
maintain satisfactory service and reliability for our customers.
National Grid, as outlined in our Electric Standards Bulletins, reserves the right to dictate the location of
all facilities. Accessibility for initial installation as well as maintenance and replacement when necessary,
is of highest priority. Nonstandard designs and construction lead to higher operational costs that are
passed along to all rate payers and are avoided when at all possible.
Outdoor pad-mounted transformers remain the recommended installation as outlined in ESB 7596.
However, in cases where an outdoor location cannot be arranged, and the Company's criteria can be
met as outlined in ESB 754, reasonable accommodations can be met.
Additional details and discussions are required to make a final determination.
