• As announced by the DRC Chairwoman as of Jan 12, 2022, 75 public comments had been
posted to the archives in opposition to this project.
• Opposition comments continue to be posted. As of March 23, 2022, only 2 postings have
been in favor.
• Common strong concerns include mass & scale and aesthetics in this historic
neighborhood.
• Specifically, their concerns are losing Saratoga Springs' unique character and tourist
appeal, and the negative visual impact on this entryway to downtown Saratoga.
• Several of the opposed are downtown business owners & one is an architect.
• Additionally, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation has posted strong concerns
multiple times.
• Separately, concerns are archived from city employees responsible for reviewing issues
exacerbated by the massive size of 269. One specifically cited the concerns we included
in our binder.
PETITION
800 concerned citizens signed the petition in opposition to the
project during a brief 10-day campaign in the Fall of 2020.
All had strong negative reactions to the mass & scale, and design
inappropriate for this historic district and neighboring buildings, in
addition to concerns about traffic and parking.
You might think it would be difficult to obtain signatures during a
pandemic, but people were very eager to sign.

The existing 50+ foot tree has been replaced with two imaginary trees.
We will lose the only natural buffer on Broadway from the massive size,
light pollution and increased traffic noise resulting from 269 Broadway.
Greater Setbacks are Needed from Broadway
At its main entrance, 269 Broadway sets back from Broadway 5 feet starting at the
3rd floor and approximately 11 feet at the 6t" floor.
Directly across the street, the Park Place setbacks are more than double with 15 feet
at the 3rd floor and 25 feet at the 6t" floor. The first two floors are also setback 15
feet except for the pillars at the sidewalk level.
Extensive pancakin and variety in the setbacks make the Park Place faade less
imposin.
Broadway (from Circular to Congress Street) is the
Narrowest Stretch in the City
# of Stories Feet Apart
Typical Downtown
Broadway buildings 2-4 120
269 Broadway vs Park Place
directly across* 6 vs 5 1/2 85
*About a third closer and twice the height of most of Downtown Broadway buildings.
Nowhere in Saratoga Springs do we have 5-6 story buildings across from each other so close together except
Railroad Place which is a quiet tree lined street, not a major truck artery with noise and light pollution.
