Project Address 199 W. Circular Comments This winter, due to the drainage issues created by changes made to the property at 199 W Circular as articulated in the comment submitted, my husband, Rob Krygowski, Rob has spent hours with a ShopVac removing hundreds of gallons of water from the area of where water collects at the base of the driveway at 199 W Circular and runs toward our house foundation at 9 Hyde Street. During a storm a month or so ago, this water began to flow like a faucet directly into our basement. Rob had to remove the water to keep it from damaging our furnace and did so again last week when melting ice and snow created another pool. We have lived at our 9 Hyde Street location for more than 20 years and have never had to deal with any water in the basement until the property at 199 W Circular was altered so drastically as to give rise to the problems that were articulated in Rob's comment. We recognize that our new neighbor has inherited this problem, and may not be aware of it. We have empathy for him. However, we are in strong opposition to any variance being approved for the property at 199 W Circular prior to the remediation of the issues that were created by previous changes to the property that were approved by the Zoning Board. Even then, we have experienced such disruptive transformations to our southern property line over the last few years that we have become very wary of supporting change. The long stone wall that was erected when 199 W Circular was divided has barricaded our backyard in. Its fortress-like presence and the abrupt change in elevation still shocks me every time I exit my backdoor. Once the drainage issue is addressed, we may be willing to support a variance.
