Dear Members of the Saratoga Springs Zoning Board,
We understand that the applicant has asked for more variances for the new garage
structure being built at 85 Beekman.
The board of the Saratoga Springs Arts District, a non-profit arts organization comprised
of business owners and artists on Beekman Street, is concerned about the negative
effects of adding new commercial space on this busy block of Beekman. If the structure
is to be used for storage and tenant garage space as originally applied for, that is
acceptable.
However, we're concerned that the new request for fully finished space in the 2 story
garage will lead to commercial usage which would add to the already overly-used street
parking by the employees of Phinney Design and The Local, located next door. This lack
of parking negatively affects our ability to attract customers to the Arts District.
If these variances are granted, please make sure that the language is very specific that
any commercial use is not allowed.
Thank you,
