P:�esident Nr;�t,e�e F�;o;euo The ltaliana.te style building at 69 Caroliue Street was built circa 1880 as a two-family vr�PPrPs�aPnz residence. It is a contributing building to the East Side Historic District listed on the L�naa L.Ha�v�y National Register of Historic Places. Secretary D�iniy Y�lmolay��� The Foundation rarely comments on Zoning Board of Appeal applications. However,the Tr�"""Y�- Foundation felt the proposed use of this building not only preserves the large historic T��ea°y B�a�r building that once was most recently home to the Children's Museum at Saratoga,but also Steven Dodds G;o�a,,,,a D�oraZ;o has the potential to play a vital role in promoting the preservation trades and providing �Ulia DUnn worlcforce training. The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation — which promotes the J�"es xe"ieWell preservation, enhancement, and sustainable use of the nation's diverse historic resources, en¢erifus and advises the President and Congress on national historic Preservation Policy—also has staff identified preservation trades as a priority. As `�e"2hej�sh`p�P'�°gra'n5 witnessed in Saratoga Springs,this shortage has only inereased with the growing demands Director in construction. While there are several well-established preservation trade programs Jacqueline Bunge P,.o�,U,,,,&E„e„t.s across the country, collectively these programs are not producing enough people to meet coof�d=nator the needs of the construction industry. The Saratoga Joinery has the potential to introduce a,,,,e M��ouoUgn people to the preservation trades and provide educational opportunities that in turn will Ad���'st''°t��e Ass�sra"t allow people to establish careers in the preservation trades. I, Samantha, was the person wno suggested to the Executive Committee, not John, that the Foundation offer a letter of support. John recused hiinself from the discussion. The Executive Committee offered its unanimous enthusiastic support far use variance to allow far Saratoga Joinery to move forward. The Foundation is interested in supporting the Saratoga Joinery in promoting the preservation t�ades and provide educational opportunities to develop this important warkforce.
