4. DESIGN GUIDELINES.
The Design Revi�w Cammission will evaluate wF�ether the proposed action {eonstructian, alteration or
demoEition) is compatibEe with existing structures and surrounding properties using the fn�lowing criteria:
• Height—consistent with historic form and context of site ancf surrounding properties
• Scaie— relationship of structure and its architectural elements to human size, form, perception
• Pro�ortian — refa�ianship among E�uilding elements including front fa�ade, windows, and doors
� Rhythm —pattern result�ng from repeating building elements such as door/window openings, col�mns,
arches, and other fa�ade elennents
+ Directional Expressior� — compatibility with horizontal &vertieal @xpression of surraunding structures
• Massing& Open Space— relationship of structure to open space between �t and adjoining buifdings
• Setback—comPatibility wit� surraunding structures
� Compatibility of the foNlowing with surroundfng structures/properties:.

- Color— (in non-residential zoning distr�cts only)
S. DECISEONs;The Design Review Commission may approve, approve with conditions, or disa�prove an
appl�cation. The DRC may impose appropriate condi�ions and sa€eguards in connection with its approval
including nature/qua{ity af mate�ials, manner of construction, and design. An applicant may appeal a deni�d
DRC application on the graunds of hardship.
Applicat�on approvals shall expire within f$ months of the fi�ing date unfess the project has sufficiently
eommence�l (i.e. building�demoEition permits obtained and construction/alteration b�gun}. Applicants may
reques� up to 2 extensians if requested 6efore expiration date of prior approval.
