Pr�esident M,�heieFun,�,eno The Italianate style building at 69 Caroline Street was built circa 1880 as a two-family v��ePr��rae�r residence. It is a contributing building to the East Side Historic District listed on the L�naa L.xa�ey National Register of Historic Places. However, the zre�u'�e'� Foundation felt the proposed use of this building not only preserves the large historic T�r�any Bia�r building that once was most recently home to the Children's Museum at Saratoga,but also s����oaa� has the potential to play a vital role in promoting the preservation trades and providing Giovanna D'Orazio Julia Dunn workforce training. The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation — which promotes the Ja"'es xettieWen preservation, enhancement, and sustainable use of the nation's diverse historic resources, emer�itus and advises the President and Congress on national historic Preservation Policy— also has srar� identified preservation trades as a priority. Executive Dir�ector� N��oie Bab�e The labor shortage for preservation trades was a challenge priar to the pandemic. As `�re"�be'�sh'p�P'�°�,��'`s witnessed in Saratoga Springs, this shortage has only increased with the growing demands ��r�e�ror� in construction. While there are several well-established preservation trade programs Jacqueline Bunge P,.o�Q,,,s&E,,e�rs across the country, collectively these programs are not producing enough people to meet coora��aror� the needs of the construction industry. I, Samantha, was the person who suggested to the Executive Committee, not John, that the Foundation offer a letter of support. John recused himself from the discussion. The Executive Committee offered its unanimous enthusiastic support for use variance to allow for Saratoga Joinery to move forward. The Foundation is interested in supporting the Saratoga Joinery in promoting the preservation trades and provide educational opportunities to develop this important workforce.
