RE: 188 Washington Street—Rear Addition
Dear Tamie:
Board of Directors The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation reviewed the application for the exterior
two-story addition at 188 Washington Street.
Adam N.Favro
President This residence, built circa 1900,is a contributing building to the National Register listed
Michelle Funiciello West Side Historic District and is located within an Architectural Review District.
Vice President
Dmitriy Yermolayev The Foundation does not object to the proposed rear addition, but has concerns regarding
Treasurer the lack of fenestration on the west side and the fenestration arrangement on the south
Linda Harvey side, which are both visible from the public right-of-way. The windows and the
Secretary fenestration of south side are not in-keeping with the style of architecture of the house.
Jaime Blair
The windows should complement the original building's window fenestration and the use
Steve Dodds of non-traditional window types is discouraged. The Foundation recommends the use of
Giovanna D'Orazio double-hung windows.
