L Project Description
The 74 Mitchel Street project consists of the construction of a new recreational swimming pool
and cabana area to be used by the residents of the Mitchell Street subdivision. The subdivision
contains (7) 4-bedroom homes. Bathrooms and sinks will be provided in the cabana. The property
is bound to the north by Mitchell Street, the south by Snyder Lane, the West by 70 Mitchell Street,
and the east by 76 Mitchell Street.
II. Existing Water and Sanitary Sewer Utilities
There is an existing house and garage located at 74 Mitchell Street which is planned to be
demolished as a part of the site work.
Municipal water service is available from the City of Saratoga Springs. A 6-inch diameter water
main is located along Mitchell Street. No water main is located along Snyder Lane.
Municipal sanitary sewer service is also available from the City of Saratoga Springs. An 8-inch
diameter sanitary sewer main runs along Mitchell Street. No sanitary sewer mains run along Snyder
Lane. This sanitary line eventually connects to the Saratoga County Sewer District No. 1 (SCSD),
where it ultimately is directed for conveyance and treatment at the SCSD wastewater treatment plant
in Mechanicville.
III. Projected Water and Wastewater Flows
The table below provides information on the anticipated wastewater flow rates for the project:
Description Use Rate No. of Total Use
Swimmers/residence
(7) 4-bedroom residences 10 gpd/Swimmer' 4 280 gpd
Total 280 gpd
Average daily flow for wastewater is estimated to be 0.58 gallons per minute (gpm)based on a 8
hour day. Estimated peak hourly flow is 2.45 gpm (4.2 x average).
Average daily demand for water is estimated to be approximately equal to the wastewater flow
or 0.58 gpm.
IV. Proposed Water and Wastewater Utilities
Proposed Water Utilities
To service the project, a 3/4" copper water service is proposed to connect from the south side of
the cabana to 6" water main in Mitchell Street.
Connections and appurtenances, including corporation stops, trenching, bedding, service
connections, as well as testing and disinfection will all be specified in accordance with City of
Saratoga Springs and NYSDOH standards.
Proposed Wastewater Utilities
For sanitary sewer collection, a 6" PVC sewer lateral connection from the north side of the
cabana to the 8" municipal sewer service in Mitchell Street is proposed. The lateral will be
installed at a minimum 2.0% slope per City of Saratoga Springs requirements to ensure adequate
pipe cleansing.
