Palleschi, P.E. ABD Engineers, LLP 411 Union Street Schenectady,NY 12305 (518) 377-0315 Engineer's Report Onsite Absorption Bed MIXED-USE BUILDING INTRODUCTION The proposed mixed-use building is located at the intersection of Driscoll Road and Route 9 in the City of Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County,New York. The site is bordered on the east by Route 9, on the south by Driscoll Road, on the west by woods, and on the north by a greenhouse. PROJECTED WATER USES The total projected average daily wastewater flow is 1,705 gallons per day (gpd). There are seven (7) apartment units on the second floor totaling 11 bedrooms and three (3) commercial tenants on the first floor(including Just Cats). The design flows for each section of the mixed-use building are listed in the design calculations. The design flow for Just Cats is based on historical usage for the business at a separate location. The design flow for the residential apartments is based on a rate of 110 gallons per day per bedroom and the commercial tenants are based on a design flow of 0.05 gallons per day per gross floor area. SITE CONDITIONS According to the Saratoga County NRCS,the primary soil type is silt loam. Test pits were performed to verify the soil conditions throughout the site. Sandy loam was observed across the first 2± feet below grade with layers transitioning to a silty sand down to 6± feet below grade. No groundwater was encountered and mottling was only observed in one test pit. Percolation tests resulted in average percolation rates ranging from 7 to 48 minutes per inch. The design rate for the septic design is 1"in 5 minutes. Soil data is on the site plans. The site currently drains east ultimately to existing culverts under Driscoll Road. TREATMENT Wastewater from the building's gravity flows to two (2) septic tanks in series. Both septic tanks will be 2,000 gallon capacity and will then flow to a 1,500 gallon pump tank. Flow output from the pump tank travels to a distribution box that serves the seven (7) absorption trenches. The treatment system is designed to satisfy the minimum area and minimum length of trenches. Based on the design ABD Engineers,LLP 2 Mixed-Use Building 5190A-Sanitary Report Driscoll Road&Route 9 percolation rate of 5 minutes per inch, the application rate for the system is 1.0 gal/day/square foot. The system provides seven laterals at 92 feet in length for a total of 644 linear feet. Layout as shown on the site plans. The system will be privately owned and maintained. Operation and maintenance will be conducted per the manufacturer's recommended guidelines. The guidelines will be distributed to the Owner at the time of installation. The proposed plan is designed in accordance with NYSDOH standards,N.Y.S. Department of Environmental Conservation standards, and good engineering practice. ; .--;; N-----12.;;;:-''' 4 1 -')/.'Z',.:r .,,,, (-)z,'•1 iiip t 1 -::!. .i; oje..,1 ' wrr @ 94676 .
