The Design Review Camrt�ission wili evaluate whet�er the proposed action (construction, altera�ion �r
demolition) is compatible with existing structures and surrounding properties using the following criteria:
• Height—consistent with historic fartt� and context of site and surrounding properties
• Sca1e�-relationship of structure ar�d its ar�hitectural eEements to I�uman size, farm, perception
• Proportian�- relaxionship among building�fements including front fa�ade, windows, and doars '
• R�tythm—pattern resulting fram repeating building elements such as door�window openings, columns,
arches, and other fac�ade �[�ments
� Dire�tiar�al �xpression—eompatibility witih horizontal &vertical expression of surrounding structures
• Massing&Open 5pa�e--relationship of structure ta open space be�ween it and adjoining buildings
� Setbacic—compatibiEity with surraund'tng structures
• Compatibility of the follawing with surrounding structures/prop�rties:
- Major building elements (starefronts, doars, windows, roo#�
- Building materials

5. DFCISIONS:The Design Review Commission may approve, appro�e with conditions, ar disapprove an
application. The DRC may impose appropriate conditians and safeguards in connection with its a�provai
ir�cluding nature/quality of ma�erials, manner of construction, and design. An applicant may app�al a denied
DRC application on the graunds of hardshi�s.
Application approvals shall expire within I$ months of t�e £iling date unless the praject has sufficiently
cot�tmenced (i.e. building�demolitian permits obtained and canstiruction�alteration begun). Applicants may
request up to 2 extensions if requested before expiration date of prior approval.
