Comments (EMAIL 3 OF 3) Numerous
cars and trucks became stranded on the hill by 30 Whistler
Court and the Marriott
Residence Inn. Had there been a fire or medical emergency,
the neighborhood was left
largely isolated. The proposed workforce housing and daycare
site will only further
expose this weakness and exacerbate the potential danger to
residents.
Workforce Housing does not mesh with overall neighborhood
plan
Promises made, promises broken. That sums up the feelings of
many neighborhood
residents, who have watched the Planning Board dramatically
shift the character from
what was proposed in 2006-07 (30 Whistler Court Condomini-
ums) and as recently as
2019-2020 (new Excelsior Park Townhouses). Purchasers
were presented with
marketing materials that showed additional townhouses and,
perhaps, light retail, such
as a coffee shop. The Planning Board has failed to adequately
consider the concerns
of current residents, who believe they are now victims of a "bait
and switch." In addition,
this proposed Workforce Housing project will be on top of al-
ready approved plans for a
boutique hotel and additional townhouses/condominiums on the
site. The Planning
Board does not appear to be considering the larger picture
and how this project
correlates with the need for improved roads, parking and traffic
flow. Quality of life
going forward is a real concern as this neighborhood grows.
The Planning Board must stop, study this further, and demand
modifications that
take into account current residents of the Excelsior Park
neighborhood.
