Project Address Excelsior/Whistler Ct Comments (EMAIL 2 of 3): Current sidewalks and parking are insufficient The presence of two apartment buildings and a large hotel has already stretched parking in the neighborhood to the limit. At times, especially in the winter months, residents of 30 Whistler Ct. cannot find parking near their homes. The Planning Board must require a new parking lot and otherwise increase parking at the proposed workforce housing site. In addition, the city and Beacon must extend sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. The current patchwork which leads pedestrians and bicy- clists from sidewalks onto the shoulder of busy streets is in- adequate and potentially dangerous. Increased noise and crime concerns must be addressed Increased density from existing apartment buildings and new townhouses has meant an explosive growth in UPS, Amazon and FedEx delivery vehicles, as well as moving vans, trucks. Traffic noise and congestion not to mention noise from par- ties, dogs, residents on the street, etc. has increased notice- ably in recent years and will be exacerbated by the presence of more than 100 additional people living and recreating in the neighborhood. We are naturally concerned about the potential for increased crime and would like a stronger, clearer"security plan"than what has been presented by Beacon. Concerns over snow removal, other emergencies must be remedied Neither Beacon Communities nor the Planning Board has ap- peared to give serious consideration to the "land-locked" char- acter of the Excelsior Park neighborhood. This past winter ex- posed glaring weaknesses in snow plowing and removal. With no place to dump snow, the two-way Excelsior Ave. was nar- rowed to one lane by Whistler Court. One way streets such as Ormandy Lane became clogged and impassable. Attach Photo (optional) Field not completed. Email not displaying correctly?View it in your browser.
