Project Name proposed workforce housing project in Excelsior Park Project Number Field not completed. Project Address Excelsior/Whistler Ct Comments (EMAIL 1 OF 2) This is in regards to the proposed workforce housing project in Excelsior Park, I am an owner at 30 Whistler Ct. After a meeting tonight with the developer, I have serious concerns noted below. roposed construction of 56 workforce housing apartment units by Beacon Communities with 10 units earmarked for victims of domestic violence and sexual violence will dramatically change the character of our neighborhood. While we always knew this area would be developed further, this new project goes well beyond the scope of anything previously presented. Without substantial modifications, this project will erode our quality of life by increasing traffic and congestion; sparking more noise and crime; exacerbating an already tenuous park- ing situation; and endangering residents in the event of an emergency. The proposed project which includes a YMCA daycare cen- ter for approximately 70 children and 10-12 staff appears to be fast-tracked by the Planning Board. We believe there has been inadequate notification, communication, engagement and consideration of neighborhood concerns. We demand the Planning Board and the city's elected leaders stop, and require substantial modifications by Boston-based Beacon before this project comes up for approval. Neighborhood streets will be overwhelmed by increased traffic The roads to/from Excelsior Park are currently inadequate to handle the increased traffic. The stretch between the Veterans Way intersection and the proposed building site is ill-designed. The addition of 56 apartments and 70 daycare slots will lead to untenable congestion during the morning and afternoon com- mutes as cars and buses "loop"from Excelsior Ave. to the new Whistler Court and back onto Excelsior. In addition, traffic on one-way Ormandy Lane will be further impacted by future con- struction of even more new townhouses and a proposed hotel. Attach Photo (optional) Field not completed.
