Tamie,
Upon seeing Mr. Perry's email regarding the number of fences in his neighborhood, I wanted to sha
afternoon with tape measure in hand, I walked Union Avenue from Circular Street to Nelson, GeorE
from Nelson Avenue to Court Street, Spring Street from Circular Street to Nelson Avenue, Madison
East Avenue, Fifth Avenue from East Avenue to Nelson Avenue, Phila Street from Nelson Avenue tc
Street, and Caroline Street from Circular Street to Nelson Avenue, and also parts of Regent Street,
Ludlow Street and Marion Place.
There are very few fences in front of the primary façade of houses.
Of the few that had fences in front of the houses, most of them were less than 36"tall (i.e. 11 and
Avenue). There are more fences on side yards and those tend to be set back further from the stree
line with the primary façade of the house or further back, and higher than 36" (i.e. 5 George Street
Caroline Street—no fence in front of the primary façade of the house, but side yard has a fence tall
36").
Overall, fences in front of the primary facade of houses are predominantly located on corner prope
although not all corner properties have fencing. Corner lot properties have an increased need for f

properties have fences in front of the house (i.e. 184 Phila Street, 122 Circular Street, 150 Phila StrE
corner properties have fences than are 36" or lower in the front of the houses (i.e. 120 Caroline Str
Avenue, and 23 Fifth Avenue). Some fences increase in height along the side yard (i.e. 24 Fifth Ave!
Fifth Avenue). I know the house at 142 Lake Avenue received approval for its fence, but it is not su
taller than 36". I do not know if all of the fences that are taller than 36" in front of primary facades
corner lots were approved or if approved under what circumstances because it was prior to my ten
Foundation (i.e. 181 Phila Street and 140 Caroline Street).
I wanted to share this bit of information with you prior to the meeting.
