With careful consideration of available options and the feedback shared by the DRC and the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation, the owners propose to: • Maintain or repair the original, primary structure; • Enhance the functionality of the property; and • Conform to zoning requirements. The owners are invested in maintaining critical features of the original, primary structure— both exterior and interior. The application requests improvements to accommodate a family, including the addition of one bedroom, functional kitchen and living space, and a one-car garage. It is important to the owners that these changes retain and complement the character of the house. It is equally important to the owners that the design balances this interest appropriately with the needs of today's lifestyle, which differ greatly from time the house was built a common dilemma with old homes, Home Exterior-Existing -L,.. k ., '.1141111 .". 1- -....-- ---- Z=, -- -,-- _, ----, 1 _ __-•,._.-, _ -----= .. .,-_-.= S Er fi -1 .- -----=.- at _---„. a. _ -- --_L= , -,--L-_ _ id_limif 1.111 — —. li — ..-K-- - ---;.
