SPECIFICATIONS GUIDE FOR AZEK PERGOLA
These specifications were current at the time of publication but are subject to change at any time without notice. Please confirm the accuracy
of these specifications with the manufacturer and/or distributor prior to installation.
Pergolas and Walkway Covers: The Specifier should adhere to these specifications and select specific
Pergola style and heights and widths in accordance with the designer's or Manufacturer's drawings.
SECTION: CSI DIVISION 10 71 13 Exterior Sun Control Devices
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 Scope
A. The contractor shall furnish and install a pergola as shown on plans and herein specified, as supplied by
Walpole Outdoors, LLC 767 East Street Walpole, Massachusetts 02081. 1-800-343-6948
1.02 Drawings
A. The contractor shall submit for approval, a complete set of general specification drawings for all pergola
members and attachments, their connections, foundations, including profiles, sizes, as provided by the
manufacturer.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 Approved Manufacturer

2.02 Materials
A. Beams, joists and purlins are to be non -laminated, smooth -surface AZEK material, profiles that are
extruded using dies that are the same size as the finished product. Beams and joists are to be internally
reinforced with galvanized steel or 6061 Structural aluminum Tubing or I -beams.
B. Decorative end detail on beams and joists shown on accompanying drawings, are to be factory pre-cut
smooth and free of lamination lines.
C. Columns are to be fabricated of fiberglass or AZEK with a galvanized steel pipe core that is to be set in
concrete at the base and to have a threaded rod at top to anchor the beam.
D. Post Caps are to be fabricated of AZEK.

2.03 AZEK Components
A. Beam:
B. Joist
3 '/2" x 7 1/4" continuous AZEK extrusion with 3/8" Cellular PVC wall, internally reinforced with
structural aluminum.
1 '/2" x 7 'A" continuous AZEK extrusion with 3/8" AZEK wall, internally reinforced with structural
aluminum.
C. Purlins (Lath)
1 '/2" x 1 1/2" solid continuous Cellular PVC extrusion
2.04 Pergola System
A. Pergola components to be completely precut and factory pre -assembled. Height of column and length of
beams and joists to be selected from Manufacturer's listing of available sizes and allowable spans.
2.05 Joinery
A. Column's galvanized pipe core is to be footed in concrete. Beam connection to column is by stainless
steel threaded rod. Joists are to be affixed with powder coated stainless steel hurricane brackets.
2.06 Surface Finish.
A. All members to be factory painted using a two -coat spray process with vinyl -safe acrylic latex machine -
finish paint. Paint color with Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 55 or greater to be selected from Sherwin-
Williams fan deck or by custom color match.
2.07 Hardware
A. All assembly hardware shall be provided. All fastening hardware shall be stainless steel

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 Pre -fabrication
A. All component parts to be preassembled to the fullest extent possible, to preclude any on site drilling,
cutting, plugging or sanding.
3.02 Installation
A. Structure to be supplied with all necessary hardware and complete instructions to provide for efficient on-
site assembly.
B. Column Setting Method: Columns to be set according to manufacturer's instructions: Fitted with internal
pipe at base that is to be set in concrete
C. Check each post for vertical and top alignment and maintain in position during setting.
D. Touch up the finish using paint provided by the manufacturer.
