HomeMy WebLinkAbout20210307 Thornton Final Subdivison Public Comment Dear Planning Board Members: I attended the board meeting via Zoom last night (4/23). Previously, I had mailed in a letter in opposition to the proposed Thornton subdivision. This was based, in part, on a lot& house plan which was very different from what the Thornton's presented last night. The plans that I saw last night succeeded in meeting the zoning criteria in a number of ways. Facing Birch instead of Grand satisfied the lot width criteria. The proposed house plan satisfied the minimum sq. footage requirement. The traffic study addressed the driveway issued. And the discussion appeared to commit extending the sidewalk and addressing what is currently an intersection that is hazardous for pedestrians. It does seem unfortunate that the Thorntons lost a portion of their property, to what I assume was eminent domain, in an effort to improve the intersection with a slipway. Then, the resulting "improvements" create a condition at the intersection that is more hazardous for pedestrian traffic. It would seam unfair to make them pay to revert it to its former condition. I believe the City should be responsible for funding proposed changes to the intersection in this particular case. Had I seen the Thornton's presentation prior to last night I would not have objected. I support the Thornton's proposal as presented last night with the caveat that the sidewalks will be extended and the safety of the intersection can be addressed. Thank you Eric Ucci
