The architctura! ciesin of tie building is a statement of its own time. Hwever, tle
Foudaticn has signitaeant concerns about heiht, scale, and mass of the preposed
structure as it is viewed not only from Braaday, but also from Harnilton Stret. While
the prcosed project may relate tt Park Place, there are extreme differences in higlt,
scale, and mass af the buildings loeated on the same side cf tlie street as the propased
building. The Founciaticn strcngly reemmends that the keight afthe structure be
reduced.
The Foundtion dces lct support the inereased use af limestone in ¢he clesign as
compared to the previous renderings prvided at the joint Design Review Ccmmission
and PtanninBoard meeting. The Foundation recommends that th limestcne be used
only to hihli}t the rnain entry of the tuildinon Broadwy.
However, the use of limsone an tlae Broadway farace tEaes nat elimiiate the
Foundations concerns regardinb the primarv entrance for tlte majarity cf the builrfing is
located on te south elevation, not cn the primary faade, and that the raund floor
commercial entranee an Broadway remains hidden from view. Lastly, t}ie Foundation
also recommends that th utility equipment acng the Hainiltan Street frontge be
vaulted.
Thank you in advance for your tltuhtful consideratan.
Sincerely,
