HomeMy WebLinkAbout20210083 Saratoga Hospital Morgan Street Campus Public Comment (3) City of Saratoga Springs Planning Board March 11, 2021 Attn: Mark Torpey, chair 474 Braadway Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 My name is Beth Flynn and I live on Seward Street. My husband and I built this house in 2015 and while there can be risk building near a hospital — we considered it an asset. It was not far for us to go in an emergency...we could walk! But I am opposed to proposed office building(s) the hospital plans on constructing. The majority of folks in this neighborhood surrounding the hospital are very concerned and have been working very hard over the past few years to stop the hospital from building this enormous office campus at the corner of Morgan and Myrte Streets. It is absolute averkill. I understand it will begin with 1 building but plans are being submitted for 4...and over hundreds and hundreds of parking spaces. The light this will generate during the evening hours will be horrible for neighboring homes and for Birch Run. I am concerned about the water runoff and flooding that will occur due to the amount of concrete that will be utilized. The access through Birch Run will be necessary for waste disposal, emergency vehicles. That area's park-like setting will be destroyed. Having an office complex in the middle of a residential area destroys the quality of life, home values, green space. To me the negatives far outweigh the positives. The hospital has an enormous campus already. Smarter, more thoughtful usage of what they already have needs to be considered. In addition, there are other parcels of land better suited to a massive office complex, I strongly ask that the planning board consider all of the ramifications to this community. The haspital needs to build a complex where it does make sense. ( _ ! l , _____, VvZ_-__ c G wn
