City of Saratoga Springs Planning Board
Attn: Mark Torpey, Chair
474 Broadway
Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
Dear Mr. Torpey:
I write to raise my concerns about the Planning Board's intention to undertake the construction
of several facilities adjacent to established residences in close proximity to the hospital.
From the start, the city's approach to approving the project seems to have been both opaque
and arbitrary. And while I certainly support our local hospital and appreciate its perceived need
to expand, the manner in which the Board has proceeded strikes me as very disappointing and
myopic.
Surely you are aware that the vast majority of residents in the area (rather than a handful of
neighbors, as has wrongly been portrayed), are fearful of the consequences such construction
will bring. Immediate ramifications for property values are obviously at play, but just as
importantly, the environmental toll that such an upheaval will leave in its wake is perhaps even
more destructive over the long run.
I do hope that further consideration will be given to the many folks whose lives will be
disrupted both immediately as well as for future generations of Saratogians.
Thanks for listening.
