Semi-weathering Gray/Green Roofing Slate from the west Pawlet Quarry was tested per
ASTIR 0406. A smeary of the results is as follows.
1. Water Absorption, C121-09, 0.171 ° (ASTM max. for S1 slate i's 0.25%).
. Modulus of Rupture,C120-09, 758 lbs,Ave. thickness 0.276 in.
(ASTM nen. for S 1 slate is 575 lbs)

. Weather Resistance,, C')17-09, 0.0011 1n. (ASTM max. for S1 nate is 0.002 in.
Tables 1,2 and 3 list the individual tests. From the specimens tested,this variety o
roofing slate does qualm as a S I nate per the requirements of ASTM 0406-10
(Specification for Roofmg Slate).
Modulus of Rupture tests were conducted on a Taus Olsen Testing Machine calibrated
October 2011. The Weather Resis=oe tests were conducted using the hand scraping
method. Thickness measurements were taken at tree different locations along the
serape track.The average depth of softening was recorded.
