RE:
206 Nelson Avenue — Exterior Alterations & Addition
Dear Tamie:
t`
The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation was shocked to see the entire roof structure
of 206 Nelson Avenue removed and framing constructedthat appears to be raising the roof
height of the historic circa I 850's Greek Revival residence.
Board Directors
initially the owners sought to demolish the structure, in large part., due to the low ceiling
heights of the second floor. The intent of the Design Review Commission approval of the
Adam N. Favro revised project was to retain and restore as much of the original historic structure as
President
possible and allow for an addition to accommodate the needs of the owner.
James Gold
Vice President The unauthorized work that has taken place is an end run around the original decision and
Linda I-larvey-opitek has effectively resulted in the near demolition of the historic building that was identified
Secretary as a contributing structure to the East Side Historic District listed on the National Register
Dntri Yermolayev of Historic Places.
