As a daily user of the Spring Run trail and someone who is keenly interested in the history and legacy of the Ten Springs / Excelsior Park area, I have several requests to the Planning Board as they consider the Excelsior Park Project permitting. Req u est #1. Can the planning board ensure that the developer is obligated and committed to 12mo of the year maintenance of the existing trail to Eureka Ave and Spring Run trail. This is NOT currently being done, and any maintenance, including mowing, trimming, snow removal, etc has fa I len on user/vol u nteers. Req u est #2. Can the planning board consider further public access or improvements to the Excelsior Park preserve area, which is immediately adjacent to this development project. a) consider a wooded trail along or near the boundary between the preserve and the project site, eg behind the proposed hotel, connecting to the Spring Run trail. This would not require any crossing of the creek, or boardwalk. b) req u i re the developer to do fu rther remed iation of a ba ndoned Su I ph u r Spri ngs site - spa equipment, tanks, boilers, mud mixers, foundations, etc along the creek. c) include in this project other other nods to the area heritage (beyond the 2 sign boards recently installed), eg pavillion / gazebo along the north side of the creek, east of the boardwalk trail, public art / display that connects to the 10 Springs I pla n to joi n the zoom meeti ng Th u 1/21 at 6pm a nd wou Id be ha ppy to spea k to these requests.
