Whether the benefit sought by the applicant can be achieved by other feasible means. Identify what alternatives to the variance have been explored(alternative designs,attempts to purchase land,etc.)and why they are not feasible. The intent of the addition is to provide additional above grade living space and to upgrade the space to todays human scale. There are no other feasible alternatives to accomplish this. 2. Whether granting the variance will produce an undesirable change in the character of the neighborhood or a detriment to nearby properties. Granting the variance will not create a detriment to nearby properties or an undesirable change in the neighborhood character for the following reasons: The proposed addition will be constructed on the rear of the existing home and will not affect the current streetscape in a negative way.Also the proposed addition will not increase the overall height of the home. The requested variance will not have an adverse physical or environmental effect on the neighborhood or district for the following reasons: The sructure will continue to be utilized as a Single Family Home and will not negatively impact local utilities including water and sewer infrastructure.The addition will not disturbe surrounding properties and the overall appearance of the home will be more pleasing. 5. Whether the alleged difficulty was self-created(although this does not necessarily preclude the granting of an area variance).Explain whether the alleged difficulty was or was not self-created: The proposed addition is to accommodated the homeowners needs/want for more living space and to upgrade the size to more closely meet todays human scale,Therefore this difficulty is self created.
