Hi Ms. Merriman.
We only just saw the small note on your site requesting that we write our questions before
noon today for the planning board hearing tonight. I hope you allow our questions to go
through. We just assumed it would be like any other hearing and we'd participate in the
moment.
We own the property adjacent to this development. We're at 30 Bog Meadow Run. We're
deeply concerned about the fact that we were never alerted to what must have been a
zoning board meeting to grant these developers a variance to create parcels of less than 2
acres. None of our neighbors were notified either. We're very grateful to you, the planning
board, for doing your duty and alerting the neighbors. But, we remain deeply frustrated that
these developers were granted a variance that will do several things:
1. change the entire character of the neighborhood. Every house in the neighborhood is set
back from the street a similar amount and sits on at least 2 acres of land.
2. place TVVO houses right up against our property instead of the expected one.
We would like to know how, when, and why this variance was granted and why we were not
included. What's particularly strange is that it seems there's enough acreage for the
developers to allow 2 acres per home. So why are two houses bunched up next to our
house?
We are also concerned about the construction noise. We know that these projects can go on
for years. Even without quarantine, both of us work from home. But now, because of
quarantine, so do our children. This is likely the case at most of our neighbors' homes as
well. Given the news and reports out of the state education department, this will likely
continue into the fall. What assurances can we get that construction will be as speedy and
noninvasive as possible?
We are also concerned about environmental effects (like our well water), but we hope that
whoever is the lead agency on the SEQRA process is properly attending to these critical
issues.
Thank you for your time and attention. Again, we're very grateful that the planning board
included the community.
